Bonds hosted at a Huguenot home built in 1485
In the heart of the Huguenot Cevennes, we have been so graciously hosted by one of my former students and her French Huguenot husband and their sweet children. Lionel Jauvert has a long and rich Huguenot heritage and unlike some Christians in the old world, he really knows and appreciates that history. My research would be hugely impoverished without his time and care taking me to remote places, including his grandmother's sprawling medieval farm house in the Cevennes near St Jean du Gard. This entire region is thick with Huguenot heritage, secret hideouts, caves, hiding places for Bibles and psalters. More on that other posts. Here are lots of pictures (sometimes my hearty crew gets a little weary)
